Summer Catch-up

A production of 'Face: The Play' ran last week at the Laurence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield. I'll try to grab the responses of actors, audiences etc and post them here.

'Hope Springs' rolls on. Although I think it is my hardest play to stage, it is by far the most performed (surely a testament to direcors ambitions) and there is a production scheduled in Australia next term. Hamish Keddie, Drama Teacher of the Port Macquarie High School in New South Wales, will be staging the play in November.

I've just finished a week's residency with Elmbridge Borough Council to develop the piece for Elmbridge Choir - they now have a proposal for a way forward and will hopefully be performing two songs as a taster at their 5th September Painshill Park performance.

Up and coming for July...

Some nice events and performances coming up this month for amateur theatre groups, youth theatre groups and people who live in Surrey to keep an eye on...

First up to the stump is the Youth Theatre of the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond, North Yorkshire. The cast will be bringing 'Paving Paradise' to the stage under the direction of Chris Wellings.

This piece was premiered at Lyme Regis last summer and is currently under consideration for publication by Heinemann – watch this space...

Nottinghamshire's Argent Theatre are staging 'The Ballad of Dolly & Clive' from 15th-19th at Norwood Park, Southwell. I don't have a link to Argent, but keep an eye out for local press if you're based in Notts or drop me a line if you'd like to look at the script.

I'm speaking at this year's Elmbridge Literary Festival. I'll be answering questions and talking about the various pieces I've created for all sorts of casts. The event is free – come along if you can!

Have a great July...

New Publication

New Publication!
"Whispers in the Graveyard: The Play" is finally out. The piece has been on sale on the Heinemann website for a couple of months now, but the real, physical copies are finally here. This piece should suit either a Key Stage 3 age group classroom or a youth theatre group with performers in the 11-16 age bracket. Theresa's novel has been a great success in schools and with young readers for years, we hope that this adaptation proves to be as popular.

First steps...

Now that this site is up and running after such a long time of faffing and procrastinating, I'm keen to spread the word as widely as possible. I've been busy posting a link to the site to adult amateur theatre groups, youth theatre and teachers of English & Drama across the UK as well as in other English-speaking countries.

If you know of anyone who you think might be interested in the site, please forward a link or drop me a line through the site.

I've just finished work on the 'Connecting Somerset' project (http://connectingsomerset.online-media.tv/news.php) and I believe that video of the event will be up on YouTube soon. I'll post a link when it is live....
